Ultrasonic method is used to detect internal discontinuities in materials. It is one of the most commonly used methods for welding joints testing.

The advantage of the UT – mobility, high accuracy in determining the location of defects, the results are known immediately after inspection.  Disadvantages - necessary surface preparation before inspection, testing restrictions for density materials.
