Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement (UTM)

One of the most commonly used methods for evaluating technical condition of steel structures is ultrasonic thickness measurement (UTM).

This method is applied to measure object residual thickness and evaluate acceptance for further exploitation. This method is an indispensable for ships hulls, offshore and other steal structures condition evaluation.

The main advantages of this method - possibility to test object thickness with access only from one side, high performance and measurement accuracy across the entire width of different thicknesses, the ability to control metallic and non-metallic materials, also through paint.

The main disadvantages - possible measurement inaccuracies because of object nonparallel surfaces, high internal and external surfaces roughness in cases of products metal body non-uniformed structure, discontinuities or other metallurgical defects.

Klaipedos NK centras is committed to maintaining professional technical knowledge, high quality non-destructive testing services, customer satisfaction and integrity by delivering quality services conforming to industry standards.
